Bus Service Changes from 16 September 2018

Brighton & Hove Buses are pleased to announce improvements and changes to a number of bus routes from the start of our autumn timetable on 16 September 2018.  Once again, a number of these are the result of suggestions made by our passengers and drivers, as well as Brighton Area Buswatch and a number of local community groups.

Full timetables are now published online at www.buses.co.uk and in the new autumn Bus Times book available now.

We are always pleased to receive suggestions for improvements but as timetables have to be finalised some time in advance we would need to receive these by the end of November to be considered for the April 2019 Bus Times book.  Please contact us by email at info@buses.co.uk or write to us at 43 Conway Street, Hove, BN3 3LT.

1, 1A

Some early journeys from Mile Oak on Sunday mornings will operate via Brighton Station, as they do on weekdays.

2

Some early morning journeys and early evening that terminate at Shoreham High Street are extended to start from or continue to Old Shoreham, Red Lion.  This was suggested by one of our drivers.

5, 5A

There are earlier journeys on Sunday mornings, including an earlier 5A journey serving Mill View Hospital for the benefit of people working there.

6

There will be more buses on Sundays, with the frequency being increased from every twenty to every fifteen minutes during the daytime.

Between 9am and 4pm on Mondays to Saturdays alternate journeys will operate via Dyke Road and alternate journeys will operate via Montpelier Road and Western Road.

21, 21A

There are minor timing changes in the evenings with some journeys running five minutes later than at present. Also the journey from Whitehawk Bus Garage to Brighton Station at 6am on Saturday mornings will be operated by The Big Lemon.  However there is no change to the main daytime service on weekdays.

22

This route will terminate at Churchill Square during the daytime instead of serving Brighton Station, due to very few people using the section of route to Brighton Station.

It will continue to serve Brighton Station in the morning rush hour for the benefit of commuters, and it will continue to start from Brighton Station on weekday evenings.

At Old Steine it will revert to serving stop H (opposite the bottom of St. James’s Street) instead of going round the bottom of Old Steine.

25

There is a slight reduction in frequency on Sunday evenings.

27

There is a slight reduction in frequency from Westdene early on Saturday mornings.

28

There are new early morning journeys from Malling and Lewes to Brighton on Mondays to Fridays, and some timing changes in the afternoon rush hour to improve punctuality.

48

This route will terminate at Churchill Square instead of Brighton Station on Mondays to Fridays, in line with the weekend service.  Very few people use the section of route to Brighton Station.

However, it will continue to serve Brighton Station in the morning rush hour for the benefit of commuters.

At Old Steine it will revert to serving stop H (opposite the bottom of St. James’s Street) instead of going round the bottom of Old Steine.

Many routes will have some timing changes, generally allowing buses more time to complete their journeys, in order to improve punctuality.
