London to Brighton Bike Ride 17 June

No southbound buses can operate along Lewes Road between approximately 9.30am until 7.30pm. The following changes to routes will apply -

Route 2

Owing to anticipated heavy traffic in Woodingdean, Route 2 will start from/terminate at South Woodingdean Shops between 1.30pm and 5.30pm. A shuttle service will be in operation between Rottingdean and South Woodingdean Shops.

Route 23

This service will be suspended all day.

Route 24

This service will be suspended until after 7pm because of the Bike Ride using Coldean Lane.

Route 25

Between 9.30am and 7pm, buses towards the Universities will follow their normal route, but will start from Old Steine. A reduced headway of 15 minutes will apply,

On reaching Brighton University Falmer, buses will continue to Falmer Station/A27, returning to the City Centre non-stop* to St. Peters Church via the By-Pass, Carden Avenue, Braybon Avenue, Surrenden Road, left into Preston Drove, right into Beaconsfield Villas then London Road. Buses will terminate at Old Steine. 

* Buses will observe the stop in Carden Avenue by Matalan

Routes 26/46

Until 7pm, buses will terminate at, and start from, Hollingbury. Coldean will not be served. Owing to anticipated heavy traffic in Ditchling Road, southbound buses will be diverted via Stanford Avenue, Beaconsfield Road and London Road. Route 46 will operate in two sections – Southwick to Old Steine and Churchill Square to Hollingbury. 

Routes 28/29

Buses towards Tunbridge Wells will follow their normal route.

Towards Brighton, buses will run Non Stop between Falmer Station and St. Peters Church, running via the By-Pass, Carden Avenue, Braybon Avenue, Surrenden Road, left into Preston Drove, right into Beaconsfield Villas then London Road.

Routes 48/49

Between 9.30am and 7pm routes 48/49 between the City Centre and Lower Bevendean/East Moulsecoomb will be suspended.

A Shuttle service will operate every 30 minutes between Lower Bevendean and East Moulsecoomb via The Avenue. Passengers for the City Centre will need to change at The Avenue/Lewes Road to or from Route 25.

Route 49 will operate as normal between Portslade Station and Old Steine.

Route 50

Owing to anticipated traffic congestion in Ditchling Road, Route 50 will run between Hollingdean and Old Steine only between 9.30am and 7pm.

Route 77

This service will start and finish in Old Steine, with buses towards Devils Dyke operating via North Street, Upper North Street and Regent Hill to their normal route at Churchill Square.

Route 78

Buses towards Stanmer Park will follow their normal route. Towards the City Centre, buses will operate from Stanmer Park via the A27 and the Falmer flyover, returning on the other side of the A27, then Non Stop* between Falmer Station and Somerfield/London Road, running via the By-Pass, Carden Avenue, Braybon Avenue, Surrenden Road, Preston Drove, Beaconsfield Villas and London Road. This service will operate every 90 minutes instead of every 60 minutes.

* Buses will observe the stop in Carden Avenue by Matalan

Route 79

This service will be suspended all day.

Coast Road A259

Between 9.30am and 7pm, buses from the Seafront and Kemp Town will be diverted up Rock Gardens and into Edward Street to reach Old Steine. Eastbound coast road buses will run via St. James's Street and Lower Rock Gardens.
